Homecoming Candidates Prepare for Crowning

With homecoming taking place earlier in the year, students involved in school activities were quickly encouraged to begin voting for fall homecoming candidates.  Each of the eight seniors nominated have many activities to look forward to this week.
Jackson Lewallan is part of the boys’ varsity soccer team and also a member of Basketball Club.
Clark Schoonover plays varsity football and participates as part of the Tailgate Club.  He also is a sports’ writer on the Spotlight newspaper staff.
““I’m excited to be a homecoming candidate because in the past watching people go through it [the crowning] always has looked like a really fun experience.  I’ve heard guys talk about the trip to Red Robin as one of the best parts.  I’m really looking forward to this weekend,” said Schoonover.
Michael Giebler is a drum major for the marching band, plays the bassoon in symphonic band, and also plays with the varsity jazz band on the alto saxophone.  He is involved in Tri-M National Music Honor Society and Under the Cross Club.  Giebler also serves as a senior class representative in Student Council.
Jake Adams serves as a drum major is marching band, and also plays the alto saxophone in both symphonic and varsity jazz bands.  Adams takes part in Tri-M National Music Honor Society and Soccer Club.  He is also involved in Student Council, serving as a senior class representative.
“It’s a real honor to be nominated to the court.  Even if I don’t win, I think everyone there deserves it.  I really appreciate that I was voted in by my classmates,” said Adams.
Caylie Bontz is on School Publications staff and serves as a senior class representative for Student Council.  Bontz is also a member of Tailgate Club.
Morgan Herrmann plays varsity volleyball and takes part in Under the Cross Club.
Mya Acosta serves as President of Student Council and is a member of the Film Club.
“I’m really looking forward to being on the court.  I’m still trying to figure out how I got nominated, but it’s really exciting,” said Acosta.
Becca Drier plays clarinet in the symphonic band and marches with the band as part of colorguard.  Drier also participates in Club Club.
The homecoming candidates have an upcoming lunch at Red Robin on Thursday, and will participate in various activities at the pep assembly Friday morning.  Their crowning will take place before the varsity football game Friday night at the District Stadium at 6:30pm.
The homecoming dance is upcoming Saturday, September 16th at 8:30pm in the commons.  Preparing for homecoming, spirit week is September 11-15, the themes as follows
