Newspaper and yearbook students had the opportunity to travel to New York City for a national journalism at Columbia University before spring break.

Along with attending the convention, they also got to see the sights of the city.

Al Genovese, senior, really enjoyed his time spent there.

“I think everyone who was there was the perfect combination of people. We all got along so well that I feel as if we made new friends and had great experiences that we will cherish forever. I could have stayed there for months with them,” he said.

Genovese’s favorite part was going to the Empire State Building at night.

“I didn’t really know what I was expecting but the experience was unreal. We went up an elevator that made your ears pop because it took us so high. When we got to the top, it was completely silent and the view of the city with snow falling was breath taking,” Genovese said.

Since the trip was cancelled last year due to weather, everyone was nervous that the trip would not work out.

Ashley Zellers, sophomore, was especially excited that she got to go this year.

“I was ecstatic to be able to go to New York. It was so much fun,” she said.
