After a season with many standout teams and players across the league making headlines, the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots met in Atlanta for Super Bowl 53.
After many controversies surrounding the Divisionals Championships, the Patriots went into the Super Bowl as the favorite in Vegas.
With a three-to-three tie for much of the game, no touchdowns were scored until five minutes into the fourth quarter, and later one more, giving the Patriots the win, 13 to three over the Rams.
“It was a boring game. The dynasty of Tom Brady continues,” Matt Buffington, sophomore, said. “Tom Brady is definitely the best quarterback of all time, he is like LeBron. The greatest.”
This game marks the sixth Super Bowl win for Brady, a NFL record, but some people feel he has not earned all of his fame and success.”
“I think Tom Brady is a cheater,” Hannah Rerick, sophomore, said. “He is not as good as everyone says he is.”
Connor Cunningham, sophomore, echoed Rerick’s opinions.
“They should have checked the balls. I bet they were low. Remember deflategate?,” Cunningham said.
After the game, people across the country expressed their lack of interest, saying the game was disappointing and dull.
“It was not a good game,” Ellie Stearns, freshman, said. “Even the commercials weren’t very good this year.
Others had more analytical reasons for why the game turned out to be a boring one.
“It was a great game for the defense of both teams, obviously, with neither allowing a touchdown until late,” Ashton Barkdull, freshman, said. “It was definitely a struggle for both offenses.”
Others decided to skip watching the big game because their teams were not in it.
“I didn’t watch is because the Chiefs weren’t in it,” Brittany Harshaw, freshman, said.
Earlier reports stated that Tom Brady was likely to retire after this season, especially if he won the Super Bowl. These reports have dialed back as Brady has adamantly stated he will keep playing.
No matter what Brady does with his career, the league will likely have many changes including, player moves, coaching changes, rule changes, and more, leading up to next season.
