Over the summer, many artists released new music, displayed over the top performances and gained the attention of thousands of fans as the school year began.
One of the most talked about concerts was Taylor Swift. Swift began her tour all the way back in March and plans to continue the Eras tour until November 2024 with her international dates.
“I went to see Taylor Swift on her first night in Kansas city. I think it was by far the best show of the tour because we got so many special announcements! She is so fun to watch, and I love her music. The atmosphere was incredible, and I especially enjoyed trading friendship bracelets with other fans!” senior Delaney Oneil said.
“The Eras tour” consists of all ten of the singer's albums, and the show is approximately three hours long. Fans speculate this is her last tour as Swift is now thirty three, and it is common for artists to perform all of their albums on their last tour.
Country music fans were excited to see Zach Bryan perform on August 27 in Wichita right after releasing a new album.
“Zach Bryan put on one of the best concerts I have ever seen! The crowd had so much energy throughout the entire show, thousands of people bonding over music was a surreal moment. My friends and I had such a great time, and I’m so happy I got to experience it!” sophomore Rylee Worth said.
The concert was held at Intrust Bank Arena and broke several records in one night including: highest food and beverage sales and highest merchandise sales for a single artist in Intrust Bank’s history. This sets the bar high for future concerts at Intrust.
Ed Sheeran performed in Kansas City on August 5th. It was recorded that over 50,000 fans filled the stadium and Sheeran even did a gender reveal on stage. “It was super fun and nothing like I expected! I went with my best friend Aleena. We got pit tickets, and we were super close to him. It was overall an amazing experience and I would love to go again!” junior Riley Mayhood said. Zoey McAllister attended the Snoop Dog and Wiz Khalifa concert in July.
“I went with my boyfriend and our families. It was so lit and the vibes were super chill. I can’t imagine a concert with Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg that isn’t good,” senior Zoey McAllister said. Some other artists that performed over the summer were: Beyonce, Chris Stapleton, Shinedown and Harry Styles. We hope everyone had an amazing summer filled with unforgettable experiences!
