As fall sports come to an end,
winter sports begin and many of the returning athletes are predicted to have an impressive season. They can be found performing almost every week with their fellow teammates and peers.
Girls Basketball:
The girls basketball team comes back this season after a state championship appearance last season. The team looks forward to an electric season by Creighton commit senior Brittany Harshaw, who averaged 18.2 points per game last season. She will also be assisted by returning varsity starters senior Ellie Stearns and junior Maddi Amekporfor as well as seniors Brayden Wheatley and Kellyn Rogers.
Boys Basketball:
The boys basketball team looks for a bounceback year after a 6-11 season. They also return their leading scorer,senior Skyler Clevenger, who averaged 14.4 points per game. The basketball team has a lot of varsity experience coming back compared to only having three
graduating seniors last season. This season, they boys are predicted at the top of many AVCTL Division II projections, the team looks for a big year under Coach Richardson’s second year.
Boys Swim:
The boys swim team is looking to repeat last year’s championship season with all but one athlete returning from that state team. This is highlighted by seniors PJ Damico and Lucas Krueger who will try to lead the team to their second consecutive title.
Wrestling:
Under second year Head Coach Nate Alvarez, the wrestling team looks to build off of three state qualifiers last year. This is highlighted by last year’s fourth place finisher junior Bronx Wood and last year’s runner-up senior Xara Bacci. They also hope for contributions through newcomers seniors Drew Daniels, Tanner Gawith, and Kamden Wilson.
