The wrestling team wrapped up their regular season with a fairly comfortable win over the Maize South Mavericks. The team did well in the lower weights, running up a considerable tally on the Mavericks before a late surge cut the gap; however, the result was never in too much doubt as the team took care of business for a final time in the regular season.

“The team performed exceptionally well, and we did a good job closing out the season with a strong win,” junior Julian Acosta said.

With the regular season finished, the team looks onward to the various postseason tournaments with hopes of taking home state championships as well as hopefully a lot of other assorted hardware.

“I can easily see us having a lot of guys not only going to state, but also doing really well in state,” Acosta said.

The team is back in action this Saturday for the regional tournament, and then again next Saturday for the state championships. The team has good odds of bringing home several state championships, and can hopefully outperform even the highest of expectations.
