The jags have faced tough competition this February, but preparing for sub-state is what this time of year is really about. A loss that is still ringing in everyone’s ears is the home fall to Andover. The girls fought to the very end but came up just shy losing 64 to 67.

“Obviously that type of loss hurts bad. There is always a different atmosphere when we play them. We played hard, but it just didn’t fall our way in the end,” senior shooting guard Ryann Stearns said.

The girls battled in another close one in the 56 to 63 loss to Goddard. They took on the Ark City bulldogs for senior night and pulled out a 65 to 46 victory. Hopefully this momentum will carry with them into the Sub-State competition.

“We are going to have to bring it. There are talented teams in our sub-state tournament and nobody is going down easy,” senior Ashtyn Brown said.

The squad will compete at sub-state in Augusta on March 1st. They will look to make a return to the State tournament.
