With the majority of the girl’s golf season passed, players look forward to finishing strong. The girls started optimistic looked forward to how the rest of the season would plan out.
“We started off pretty rough, but it got better,” senior Maura Flahive said.
The areas of improvement are really focusing on what’s next and playing smart.

“We are working on staying focused, and trying to concentrate on every shot,” coach Scott Kincaid said, “We mainly practice on getting better, and try to get our scores lower”.
The team has many promising players who are leading the team with lower scores and more confidence, heading toward the end of the season.
“My two best players are Hailey Barber and Maura Flahive. They both have the chance to qualify for State if they play well at Crestview,” Kincaid said.
The team stacks up well against previous golf teams.
“This team is probably a little better than the previous team. We lack the ‘country club’ girls we have had in the past. Andover has almost everyone on their team in a country club, so sometimes we are at a disadvantage.” Kincaid said.
While the team may have been at a disadvantage, some girls will still have a fighting chance for top places at State. The team’s preparation for matches and having a consistent routine also helps the girls’ confidence.
“We always bump the aux in the car on the way there, and when we get there we just go to the driving range for a bit and put. Then we can play,” Flahive said.
The team looks forward to finishing strong, as well as having multiple players compete at State.
