As the end of the season nears, the top players on the tennis team are excited to see what they can do at the end-of-season competitions.
“I think it is going pretty well. This year is a good year for most of the team,” senior player Samara Haenggi said.
The team has attended 11 meets to this point with postseason competitions coming soon.
“We are working really hard. For instance, we took second and third in League for doubles,” sophomore team member Hillary Tallman said.
“For most everyone, the season is over. Regionals is tomorrow [October 5], and State is next week. So, at most we have another week left,” Haenggi said.
Looking back on the season to this point, Haenggi was surprised by the turnout of the tryouts at the beginning of the season as well.
“We did have to cut some people this year because the team was so large, which was nice because so many girls were interested in tennis, but also too bad because we had to cut some people that really loved the sport,” Haenggi said.
Both Tallman and Haenggi have been pleased with their personal improvement as well as the team as a whole.
“I feel like everything is going well. I have improved, so that feels great,” Tallman said.
“I think we have improved from last year. We have stepped it up,” Haenggi said. “I feel that I have improved from last year quite a bit, in more ways than one. I have learned how to push through.”
