Boys soccer continues pushing through the season. They have played 12 games so far and have a 10-0-1 record. Returning players continue to perform highly and new players continue to rise to the occasion. Although the team lost 11 seniors and seven starters, with hard-work, teamwork, and determination they continue to succeed.
“We play our best game when we are working as a team. We worked together as a team all summer and it’s done nothing but paid off, the hard part is continuing to work together during the games. Losing the seniors that we relied on last year forced us to work harder. Coach has helped us do this by encouraging us to reach our goals,” sophomore Grant Davis said.
So far, the boys have played against Pittsburg, Rose Hill, Trinity Academy, Buhler,
Haysville-campus, Winfield, Maize, McPherson, Salina Central, Andover, Arkansas City, and Goddard. Beating 11 teams and tying with Buhler, the team remains undefeated. Many players tie their success into the coaching staff.
“Our team contributes our success to Coach Huskey. He came into this team a couple years ago and made it a family. That is carried on no matter how many players we lose. He works really hard and scouts out every team that we play. Coach puts endless hours into us,” senior Max Wurth said.
Jag nation is tremendously proud of the boys and how they represent the school. Numerous students attend the games to cheer on and watch. The team is immensely appreciative of their supporters.
“It’s always fun to play and know that people are there just to watch us. I think it makes us play better and work harder. All of us value their support so much,” sophomore player, Caden Spooner said.
Overall, the ACFC is a great example of what is encouraged at Andover Central. The team is full of hard-working and determined players that are lead by an encouraging Coach.
