As the 2017-2018 school year comes to a closes, preparations for the new school year is in full effect. Students get to go through the process of deciding what classes to take next year and seniors get the privilege of having off-hours. In order to make the process smoother the counselors put on an Enrollment Fair, which will take place on February 14 from 5:30-7 in the commons.

“The class registration fair gives students and parents a time to find out about departments for which they may have questions. This gives everyone a specific time to talk to teachers when they may not be able to during the day. For example, if students want to understand more about Web Design, a business teacher can answer questions” counselor, Lisa Stinson said.

The fair is not just for ACHS teachers. There will be other representatives from other schools in the area.

“There will be teacher representatives from each department at ACHS and the Butler Community College and Wichita Area Technical College staff who will have tables set up in the commons.” Stinson said.

Students and parents will also have the opportunity to talk with teachers about about class placement.

“It is also a great time to talk to teachers about AP and honors placements. Primarily, the 8th graders attend because they are unfamiliar with all of our choices, but our high school students can definitely benefit as well,” Stinson said.

There will be no other parent meetings the night of the class registration fair, however all three counselors will be in the commons to answer questions parents and students will have.
