The National Honors society contributes endless help and resources to the school and community. An unsung hero of their services is the student led tutoring. Several NHS members offer after school help with a multitude of subjects and classes.
Tutors for the school include Jacquee Jessop, Nicole Romero, Steven Robles, Ruby Maderafont, Lauren Wolf, Cailan Steward, Emmett Rech, Anja Tschohl, Anna Tri, Hannah Wiebe, Samara Haenggi, Jillian Primm, Liz Snyder, Maddie Housley, Nate Brightup, Noelle Schumann, Kate Cailteux, and Devin Gerber.
The tutors are available to all high school and middle school students. Each teacher at both schools has a list available for any students that need help. The list has each tutors contact information. The tutors are volunteering, so there is no question as to their intentions.
“Being a tutor is an amazing way to serve. The purpose of the volunteering is completely unselfish. We get to help other students,” junior Kate Cailteux said.
The help is valuable because it is coming from students who have personal experience with the classes themselves, not just general knowledge of the subject. Student to student help is also more relaxed and relatable. There is more comfort around sitting with a peer who understands school stress and struggle.
