The soccer team got off to a great start to the season at 8-0 while only allowing four goals, they went till the 7th game without a goal scored against them. Players on the team are being recognized too with senior Jayden Vossen at 3rd, senior Leyton Harper in 4th, and senior Jack Benedict in 8th in Hayden Kyle Barber’s The list: Looking at the top 50 boys soccer players in the Wichita area, a list of the top soccer players in the Wichita area made before the season.
Junior defensive midfielder Caden Spooner attributes the team’s success to the team’s tight bond.
“Team chemistry has been a big part about the team’s success this year. We have really built a bond and it translates well onto the field. We have been very successful so far and our closeness as a team plays a big role in that,” Spooner said.
Senior goalie Blake Robison is confident that this team is special and can go deep into the postseason.
“I think we can go deep into the playoffs. We work so well together and in tough games we play up and adapt to our competition. I think this is the year we could win it all. It’s gonna take hard work and everyone doing their jobs, but we’re a family so it comes easy,” Robison said.
Sam Baldwin, senior back, likes the team plays, but still thinks they can improve.
“I think the biggest thing we can improve upon is our intensity as a team and not getting lazy in our games, other than that everything can always be improved upon,” Baldwin said.
With many games left to go, the team hopes to finish the season strong.
So far the soccer team is 9-0 with a 2-0 win over Rose Hill, a 5-0 win over Buhler, a 5-0 win over Trinity, a 2-0 win over Haysville, a 9-0 win over Winfield, a 1-0 win over Maize, a 4-2 win over McPherson, a 3-2 win over Salina Central, win 1-0 win over cross town rival Andover, and a 4-0 win over Pittsburg.
