Energy drinks have become a go-to for students managing school, sports, and work. Although there are many brands of energy drinks, Alani and Celsius prove to be the most popular for teens. There is a lot of debate on which of the two has better taste, aesthetic, and price, and students' opinions at ACHS will help determine which comes out on top. To get background, Alani Nu was founded in 2018 by a health and wellness brand. The brand quickly took off and became very popular due to its low-calorie and zero-sugar drinks. If there is anything that draws customers to Alani’s, it would be their bright, fun cans. While Alani Nu is marketed towards clean energy, Celsius is more fitness-focused. Like Alani, Celsius also contains no sugar and low calories. Alani and Celsius are also around the same price, as well as in terms of caffeine amount and size. Celsius has around 40 flavors, along with limited edition flavors and seasonal flavors. Alani has less than Celsius, around 32, but Alani has seasonal flavors such as “Witches Brew” for the Halloween season and “Winter Wonderland” for the Christmas season. Junior Jaz Delgado says, “I like Alani better because it gives me energy without the jitters and all of the fun flavors!” On the other hand, Junior Kelsey Barskiewski says, “Celsius is way better because there are better flavors.” In comparison, both drinks have pros and cons, so at the end of the day, it is personal preference. Of course, the ‘winner’ will always shift based on what trends are around, what new flavor has dropped, and what is stocked at the nearest gas station, so it is safe to say, the debate isn’t ending anytime soon. Whether you are team Alani or Celsius, it is clear that teens will not be giving up their caffeine fix anytime soon.
