Football Recap Against Hutchinson - Dayton Cunningham

The Jaguar football season started this past Friday and it was a great start to the year. Andover Central went on the road and faced off against the Hutch Salt Hawks. This was one of the most anticipated games of the year and it was projected to be one of the toughest teams on the Jags schedule. That was not the case, however, the Jags put on a clinic against the Salt Hawks. The Jace-to-Jace connection was in full effect with them connecting multiple times Friday night. The rushing game and defense were nothing to overlook either.

The Jags started off the first quarter hot with two receiving touchdowns. They were none other than senior Jace Adler. The Jags headed into the second with a 14-0 lead, but it did not stop there. Senior running back, Maddox Archibald, broke off for a huge 43-yard run, to put the Jags up three possessions heading into the half.

The Jags kept the momentum going with yet another connection between Jefferson and Adler. This 69-yard touchdown solidified the win for the Jags, but they were not done. The Salt-Hawks got their first and only touchdown in the third quarter, but Archibald answered right back with a three-yard rushing touchdown. Then senior soccer player and kicker Andrew Clouse finished the game with a 24-yard field goal.

The Jags won with a lopsided score of 37-7. The Salt Hawks were favored coming into this game, but the Jaguars showed that they are the real deal. The defense held down the fort, only allowing 200 yards total and forcing one turnover. Jefferson had 214 passing yards, three touchdowns, and zero turnovers. His main target, Jace Adler, had 8 receptions for 171 yards and three touchdowns. Archibald led the rushing game with 95 yards and two touchdowns. The offense and defense were firing on all cylinders. The Jags head to Newton this week and are looking to keep the momentum rolling.
