Football Update

The football team faced off against the Buhler Crusaders at Jaguar Stadium on Friday night at 7 p.m.

Buhler, the #3 ranked team in 4A, was tough competition for the Jags. The Jags jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and led by the same score heading into halftime. However, the Crusaders snapped back and went on a 19-0 run to go up by 5 with two minutes left in the fourth quarter.

With 90 seconds left on the clock, senior running back Ashton Barkdull, received a pass from senior quarterback Kai Kunz, and took it to the end zone 54 yards for the lead. Barkdull was quick to credit his lead blockers, senior offensive linemen Drew Daniels and Nate Peak, as the reason for that play’s success, not his speed while sprinting down the sideline. The Jags would end up winning the game 21-19, getting a huge early season win.

Not only was the win important in retrospect of defeating Buhler and moving up in the 4A rankings, but also because it gave students a great feeling heading into the homecoming dance, which occurred the day after the game. The Jaguars will travel to Eisenhower, Goddard on Friday 17, 2021 to continue their 2-0 season.
