Way To Start a Season!

Way To Start a Season!

Jaguar football is back in action and it is off to a great start. The Jags started off their season with a home game against the Buhler Crusaders. This year the Jags have a new starting lineup after losing a lot of seniors this year. This includes new players like Jace Jefferson, Brandt Stupka, Logan Taggart, Maddox Archibald, and Kaden Seibel.

The Jags started off hot with a 64 yard receiving touchdown to junior wide receiver Brandt Stupka. This started the tempo of the game with the Jags never giving up the lead after this score. The Jaguars defense was dominant in the first half not letting the Crusaders score. Junior Logan Taggart started the year off hot with an interception in the first quarter. The Jaguars had a demanding lead heading into half leading 10-0.

Coming back from half the Crusaders tried to get something going scoring a touchdown of their own, but the Jags did not let off the gas scoring another touchdown of their own. The defense was a highlight reel that night with another interception with this one being by Junior Brody Degarmo. This one was scored by junior running back Maddox Archibald. Archibald tore up the rushing game having 20 carries for 126 yards. Going into the fourth quarter the Jags were up 17-7. The Crusaders tried to keep the game going with a touchdown in the fourth putting it into a one score game. But, senior kicker Drew Wilborn was on fire Friday night not missing a single kick including a game sealing field goal that secured the win for the Jaguars. The rushing game was significant for the Jaguars, but the receiving game was still a big factor in the game. Landon Kitterman led the charge with 7 receptions for 43. Jace Jefferson in his first varsity start was exceptional completing 1 pass for 184 yards and a touchdown.

It was a strong start to the season with a 20-14 win over Buhler and the Jags are looking to keep it going. The Jags are away this Friday facing the Maize Eagles. The Jags are looking promising this year and are looking to make a run to the playoffs.
